WHO WE ARE

HOW YOU CAN HELP

History

Seattle Civic Dance Theatre (SCDT) is a nonprofit organization that has been providing advanced performance opportunities for dancers in West Seattle since 1983. We provide dancers opportunities to enjoy the art of dance beyond the studio classroom through classes, workshops, and community performances for schools, retirement communities, and other community festivals.

Company

SCDT offers pre-professional performance opportunities for our company of dancers. Our company dancers leave our ranks to pursue post-high school opportunities in dance education, professional companies, and to become productive members of our communities. We offer these dancers advanced technique classes that allow them to take their performances to the next level.

Performances

Our annual production of The Magical Doll Maker Ballet provides a performance opportunity for over 50 dancers on a professional stage – offering life skills in perseverance, hard work, and dedication. This main-stage holiday production of ballet as the capstone to our fall performance season that includes community performances at festivals, retirement centers, schools, and other locations.

Meet Tia

“Tia has been dancing with SCDT since her first role in The Magical Doll Maker when she was 9. Now, a company member, she takes an active role in shaping younger dancers and helping to prepare them for the stage.”
