Auditions
The Magical Doll Maker is the story of a curious girl named Annette and her adventures in the mysterious workshop of a Doll Maker. Annette and her classmates visit the Doll Maker’s shop and are amazed by the dancing dolls from around the world dancing as if by magic. The performance fee is $75 per dancer. This fee helps to cover costuming, choreography, rehearsals, and studio rentals. This performance fee is waived for company members.
Casting
All Dolls will be double cast – with a primary and an understudy. Dancers and understudies are expected to attend all rehearsals and performances. We understand that family events do arise, but excessive absences, even excused, will lead to the loss of performing roles. We expect all cast members (both cast and understudies) to attend all meetings, rehearsals, classes, and performances and act as role models to other dancers within their studios. We expect our dancers to schedule their time as professionals and ensure their school work is done, as homework is not an approved absence from rehearsals. Please see our Performance Contract for full expectations.
Rehearsals and performances
The season will begin with “Choreography Week” – August 28th and continue through the December mainstage production at the Highline Performing Arts Center. With only 6 weeks from first rehearsal to the first performance, we start quickly.
Choreography Week: August 21st to 25th. 4pm to 8pm
Rehearsals: Friday and Saturdays starting September 8th
“Mini-Maker” Performances: Sunday afternoons starting late October with the Fauntleroy Fall Festival
Family Involvement
Families of dancers are expected to volunteer a minimum of 5 hours during the course of the season. Volunteer opportunities include performance support, costuming, Santa Breakfast fundraiser, and other areas. A parent meeting will be held August 31st at 7pm,where more information will be provided.
